Michael S. Chitwood

Michael Chitwood has spent more than 20 years in the non-profit space serving marginalized communities. After getting his bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Michael taught for three years in Kankakee, IL where he was inspired to get his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign.

Prior to joining Marillac St. Vincent, Michael is the founder of Team World Vision – the endurance run, walk, ride fundraising program of World Vision – which has raised over $100 Million for global clean water projects since its inception in 2006. Michael went on to lead the Church and Ministry Partnerships Team, partnering with over 1,000 churches across the US to raise funds and awareness around issues of extreme global poverty. Prior to coming on board with MSV, Michael served for a year and half as the Chief Philanthropy Officer at Opportunity International. Michael brings strong experience in organizational strategy and culture and a life-long commitment to serving marginalized communities.
