Notice of Privacy Practices Update

On February 16, 2024, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued final regulations strengthening privacy protections for substance use disorder (SUD) patient records under federal law. While these rules primarily apply to “Part 2 Programs,” they also require HIPAA-covered entities that receive SUD-related information to update their Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP).

Although the group health plans of Marillac St. Vincent Family Services are not Part 2 Programs, they routinely receive SUD treatment information when processing claims. As a result, we have updated our Notice of Privacy Practices to reflect these enhanced protections and your rights.
